About This Product

A ball mill grinds and blends solid rocket propellant ingredients — typically oxidiser and fuel — into a fine, uniform mixture before it's cast or pressed into a motor. Even particle size and thorough blending directly affect how consistently a propellant burns, which matters for both motor performance and safety.

This unit rotates a sealed milling jar, loaded with the propellant chemicals and grinding media, on a pair of polyurethane-rollered shafts. As the jar turns, the media tumbles inside it, grinding the material against the jar walls and mixing the components together over the milling run. Power is drawn from mains but buffered through an onboard battery, so a short mains interruption doesn't interrupt a run in progress.

How It's Used

  1. Load the milling jar with your chemicals and grinding media, seal it, and place it on the rollers.
  2. Set the desired speed using the front panel knob.
  3. Switch on Mains, then Motor, to begin rotation.
  4. Run for the required milling duration, then switch off in reverse order (Motor, then Mains).
